Yeah, I did do that with the SSD drive. But with the HDD drives, it is such a miserable experience trying to get it to boot up and let you turn on the encryption, I've been doing it with the other, secondary computer.

Maybe what I'll do is leave it connected to the MBP long enough to see it progress beyond 5%.

And I just remembered that this is actually the 4th of 4 HDD drives that I've converted to Catalina clones. So the procedure has worked 3 times before.
