Try adding the password to the system and user keychains. (I'm certain it's stuck on the password prompt... that's the only reason it'd hang there.)

Adding it to the system keychain seems to have made it work. Would anyone using this computer have access to that now?

That's a good question - not without being able to unlock that keychain, I don't think.
