odd behavior starting recently

I've noticed some odd behavior beginning recently...

1. (see screenshot) Whenever I start SD, there is a significant delay in opening, and then I always get the message in the screenshot.

2. SD seems very sluggish in the user interface (not in actually doing the backups)...I often get the spinning beachball when I click "OK" at the end of a run, or as I go from screen to screen

Thanks for your help.

Well, the "(null)" is because OSX is throwing an exception when we ask the system for the list of drives. That may indicate a problem with an attached volume (peripheral or network).

The beachballs are nearly always due to either a slow responding device or 'prebinding' issues. Try powering off your Mac, holding down Shift and powering on, with Shift down. Keep it down to the desktop, then start SD. Better?
