Saving Photos to External Drive
I am trying to remove/transfer my iPhoto pictures to external hard drive and eliminate them from my mac to free up space. I have always done a complete backup that includes all photos. However, when I trashed photos in iPhoto they were also trashed in the external drive. I have SD set to copy new files, not smart copy. My intent was to continue transferring pictures to external as they were acquired. How can this be done, please?

They weren't trashed on the external: you're probably making a pretty common mistake with either Finder or iPhoto.
Specifically, you're likely opening the "disk" in Finder, then clicking the "Pictures" sidebar button. That's going back to the internal drive, not the backup. Remember, too: running iPhoto "from the backup", without starting up from the backup, still looks at data on the startup drive. Make sense?

I see, thanks. I'll try again.
