A few things, Ricardo:

- There's little point in "occasionally" backing up all files, if you're using Smart Update. SuperDuper! always has to look at every file when it does its thing, and since it only backs up the changed items (and your system items rarely change), I'd suggest always doing a full backup.

- If you want two different kinds of backups, or want to store a backup on a drive with other items, you have two options:

1. Partition the drive into a Data volume and one or more Backup volumes (named appropriately).

2. Create disk images, as explained in the FAQ "How do I update an image?", and use those as virtual volumes alongside your data files.

If you don't have any way to Partition without losing data, Coriolis Systems' iPartition works quite well, and will create and resize partitions "live", with your data in place.
