"Backup – user files"

"...backs up user specific files in the Home directories of the
various accounts on your system... ."

What are those "specific files?" Which files in the Home directories are excluded?

As I recall, there are no files in the Home folder that are skipped. But you can examine the scripts you're using to see.

LaCie d2 Quadra 500GB interfaced by Firewire to a Mac Mini with 10.6.2.

With SD! I choose 'Backup - user files', but when it's done so no files in my 'User' folder have been copied.
The same SD! option works fine daily backing up from my G4 using 10.4.11 on to a different hard drive.

Are you using FileVault? Backup - user files certainly copies everything in /Users...

Never heard of FileVault, and can't find it on my Mac Mini using Snow Leopard - so the answer is No !

I'd really need to see your log to comment, doesn't make much sense (send with the 'send to shirt pocket' button). How, exactly, are you checking?
