Backup Plan Help

Hey everybody,

I just let my .mac subscription run out and since I no longer have Backup, I decided to use my copy of SuperDuper to take care of my backing up. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to the directions because I wiped out about 40gb of home movies. Kind of ironic that attempting to be proactive about backup caused me to lose my data.

I would like to back up my entire system to an external firewire drive that I also use for general storage.

Can someone let me know if I can use SuperDuper to clone my HD without overwriting the files that are already on the external drive. I don't want to have to go through losing my data again.

Can I use smart update so that I'm not copying all 120gb of data every few days? (I think using smart update is what got me in trouble in the first place.)

Any advice? Thanks in advance for the help.
