What am I missing?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. I made a bootable backup of my drive about a month or so ago, like I do on a regular basis.
Yesterday, I downloaded the new Firefox (guess it wasn't just an update), and HATED it. So I burned (secure deleted) everything Firefox on my computer (after exporting bookmarks, of course). Then went to my backup drive, copied that old Firefox version over to my current drive. It worked, but it was like it was a brand-new installation, none of my bookmarks that would have been there when I cloned it came along. Wasn't a problem, because I had exported my bookmarks, and all is well after I imported that file. Just curious why that happened, and if that would happen with other programs, like, for example, SnapProX, BTVPro, CacheOutX,OnyX, etc. I've always felt "braver" trying some new-fangled update, knowing if I didn't like the update, I could get the original off the cloned drive. Thanks. |

Well, because you deleted 'everything Firefox'! If you deleted all of it, it'd be like a new installation.
Also, if Firefox 3 has a new format for its preferences/profile (and it does, for some of it), then 'rolling back' just the application won't magically fix that. You'd have to bring over that data, too.
