Thank you, but there is a small problem

Hi

First thank you for that.

There is a problem in that when I go to empty the trash it tells me it is going to trash a great number of items. That folder "points to" my Applications, Developer and Library folders and trying to trash it means that the computer looks like it is going to trash those folders and their contents

I see entirely that it is the existence of that folder which is the problem. The alias to the mounted volume must append the "1" because of the presence of that folder.

However I don't want to trash that folder and find that I've trashed all my applications etc.

So, it is a small problem.
