Trash .dmg icon?

True computer dunce here. I don't even really know what a .dmg is or what it does.

I've downloaded and been running SuperDuper! for several months, and it's worked perfectly. Both the SuperDuper! icon and the SuperDuper!.dmg icon appear in my applications folder. Do I need that .dmg icon or can I trash it? THANKS.
-Bob

A DMG is a 'disk image' -- that is, a virtual disk in a file. If you open it, you'll see a disk appear on your desktop -- and that's how SuperDuper! (and many other applications) are distributed.

You can safely toss it.
