Device Not Configured
I am running 10.6.2 on an iMac and using SD 2.6.2.
The task is to backup 'iTunes' to 'iTunes Backup'. The source is pretty big so I expected the initial run to be lengthy. All went well for an hour or so, with about 20G or so copied, and then SD said: | | 10:39:21 PM | Info | /Volumes/itunes/Desktop | 10:39:21 PM | Info | /Volumes/itunes/aperture | 10:39:21 PM | Info | /Volumes/itunes/.fseventsd | 10:39:21 PM | Info | Preserving /Volumes/itunes/.fseventsd | 10:39:21 PM | Info | /Volumes/itunes/Transmission | 05:10:00 AM | Error | SDCopy: Error copying /Volumes/itunes/Transmission/Stargate.Universe.S01E06.HDTV.XviD-XII.mp4 to /Volumes/iTunes Backup/Transmission/Stargate.Universe.S01E06.HDTV.XviD-XII.mp4 of type 8 due to error 1\n: Device not configured The backup and source devices are WD myBook external drives. Both have had the latest WD firmware patches installed. Two questions: notice the time from 1039PM to 510AM. Not sure what was happening. Second: I wonder what 'device not configured' means? It means the backup drive likely failed - either the connection or the drive itself. You can restart your Mac, repair both, simplify connections and try again...
