Overwrite Mavericks from 10.8.5 Image backup?

I may need to back out of an installation of Mavericks. I'm not very pleased with the OS just yet. I have a 10.8.5 image ready to go. Do you know of any gotchas I need to look out for? Are there any recovery drive issues to be concerned about? In troubleshooting with Apple's Tech support they raised that concern when I told them I was thinking about just going back to the prior image. But they also admitted they didn't know much about SD!.

If you restore in full (Erase, then copy) you should be fine. You can recreate the Recovery Volume with the Mountain Lion using the App Store.
