Question Dropbox changes in Ventura

The next time I update Dropbox, it will change its location and behavior. See https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-faqs. My current dropbox folder is located in the root of my local home directory. The new Dropbox location is in my local Library. The default Dropbox install will make files online-only.

If some or all of my Dropbox files become online-only, will SD back them up? Do I need to make any changes to my SD backup process to ensure they continue to be backed up?

In general, since Big Sur, SuperDuper has consciously not backed up "Cloud Storage" folders. We don't want them to download on you, and various permissions and stuff can't be readily replicated on the destination.

On top of that, Dropbox and others will *re-download* after restore anyway...

I'm pretty sure Dropbox allows you to configure their setup to keep history, and I would suggest doing so - since they can then back up their stuff.

Dave, I now keep many of my dropbox files on my computer (but also allow many of them to remain in the cloud). If I wish SD to back up my boot drive plus the dropbox files physically on my boot drive, can I just modify your Backup-all files.dset by adding a line in the Script Commands tab that says to copy /users/bud/.dropbox ? (That's where SD shows dropbox is located.) Or will that cause problems?

You can add in folders that you want to back up - they're not going to be there, though - they'll be in CloudStorage in most cases. Make sure to INCLUDE, not COPY, the "Backup - all files" script, then add your commands in the Command tab.
