Kernel panic during clone

I'm running 10.3.9 on an iMac G3 400 MHz with 320 MB RAM. SuperDuper! 1.5.5. I was doing a clone (all files) to a disk image (meaning I selected "Disk Image..." in SuperDuper as the destination) and near the end, I believe the path was /var/something-or-other in the status, the system kernel panic'd. I was backing up a firewire hard drive. A 2.5" drive in a case. The drive was pulled from my Powerbook (when I replaced it.) I've never seen SuperDuper! do this on my Powerbook, but this was the first time I used it on my iMac and also the first time I tried backing up to a disk image.

Since you've sent this to support as well, I've answered there... feel free to follow-up here once we've got this figured out.

(Note, for those reading -- SuperDuper! doesn't have any kernel-level code, so it can't directly cause a Kernel Panic. It does work your system quite hard, though, and other programs -- especially antivirus software -- can fail when presented with this amount of file I/O...)
