Sandbox - best place for it?

I was wondering where would be the best place to put a Sandbox? I was thinking that putting it on a separate internal drive might be a good idea in case either drive happens to fail... but then I thought that I might get a significant performance hit? (G4 800 DP 10.5.8) Also, is it better to put third party apps and the like in the Sandbox or main OS application folder - or does it really matter? Thanks!

A separate drive is better than the same drive. I'm not sure what you mean by 3rd party apps - in general, you'll have them installed on the original drive, at least when you 'sync up' the sandbox and the main drive. It's best to keep them as in-sync as possible...

Thanks Dave - a separate drive it is! What I meant by 3rd party is if I were to install additional applications or utilities (after the initial sync) as time went on, would I install them in the sandbox or the main drive? (after writing this I checked the users guide & of course it says: "You can safely install any system updates, drivers or programs in the Sandbox, without worrying about what might happen to your system. If
anything goes wrong, you can simply start up from the original system." I guess THAT answers my query... :>o lol

Just remember, you want to 'sync' the two when you're happy with what you have installed, eh?
