Archive a Backup? Image to DVD?
Hello, I've used SD a few times, I really like it's reliability and simplicity. Plan to upgrade soon to use the advanced features.
My question: Could I create an archival copy on DVD (to store off-site) with the following method? A) Use SD to backup my entire boot drive to a disk image. B) Burn that image to DVD(s) * * I realize that image will be larger than a DVD. Does a Disk Image 'look' like one big file to OSX? Could I use a program like 'MacHacha' to split that file into 1.9 GB segments to burn (2 segments per) to DVD. Note: MacHacha appears to be just a front end to the standard terminal split and cat (join) commands, so I feel pretty safe with this method - not really a 'proprietary' method. If no one knows this from experience, I hope to try it later this week, I'll report back success/failure. Thanks! |
