new to SD, start up condtion

New to Mac and SD, I purchased SD and registered about 1 month ago. I ran several backups(full erase). When SD boots from the backup at the end, how do you get Mac to boot using its own hard drive. Do i need to do a shutdown and reboot or do a shutdown and reboot with option key. Can I just log out and back in. What is the proper procedure.

Question #2 -I just purchased a second Imac and I'll be giving my wife the older one. Using SD how do I recreate my setup on the new machine. How do I get the SD backup booted on the new machine. Then how do I erase the old machine so my wife can start from scratch. Hope my questions were clear, Thanks in Advance.
