Backup to Server

I've been following recent articles on backup solutions that provide services to backup to external servers. As I've my own server I was wondering whether I can use SuperDuper to backup to the server via FTP. Unfortunately, FTP programs like Transmit are not reliable for that purpose.

A recent article on Macworld (http://www DOT macworld DOT com/article/142606/2009/09/online_backup.html?lsrc=rss_main) highlights the problem with having a local backup, e.g. burglary or your house burning down.

I don't like to subscribe to third party services like CrashPlan Central or Backblaze when, potentially, I could use my own server space for backups.

Can SuperDuper assist in doing a backup to an external server? or will it in the near future (knowing only too well that development on this app can take months, if not years).
