Unhappy stall on backup user files

I am running 10.4.6 and the latest version of SuperDuper!
I have a new firewire drive that I partitioned into two. On one partition I copied my User folder to. On the other partition I back up all my photo and Movie files.
The first time I used SD I had it set to copy files from Macintosh HD to Lori User folder (the name of the partition on the external). The option I used was only backup the Users folder using the smart update feature. The first time it ran just fine.
This is the second time I am trying to sync the folder using the smart update feature. For 45 minutes it has not had any activity. No files evaluated, no files copied. It seems to stop after the first minute. I checked the log and there is no activity in the log after 1 minute.

I stopped the process, which really never started any copying.

I tried again and now it has been 35 minutes and nothing has happened.
The log starts at 12:52 AM and stops at 12:52:04 AM. I am sending you the log by using the "send to shirt pocket button" in the log window.

You sent this into support, too -- what I asked there was: are you using FileVault?

OK. Let's continue this in email -- I've sent you a task there. That'll make it a bit less confusing, and you can post a summary here when we're done if you'd like.

Hi Dave,
It's almost 5 in the afternoon and I have not received any email from you. I'll be waiting for the task.

Lori -- I sent the email to you before I posted the message above. Check your "Junk" folder and you should find it.
