SD! appears to make a sparse image before it makes the DMG image. Since the size of the sparse image is known before the DMG image is created, could SD! check the space available before starting the DMG image?

Then SD! could offer the user a chance to stop, but keep the sparse image (assuming the sparse image is a workable backup).
