Question Boot from FireWire HD

Disk description: PL3507 Combo Device
Disk write status: read/write

All partitions are MacOS Extended.

Drive is an Edge HD-02-U2FW.

I did try option-boot, left the house for 2.5 hours, and got the same results as b4. I'd been under the impression that any FW drive could be made bootable under OS X, but some digging around online is leading me to question this. Could it be that I just happened to get a drive that can't be made bootable? Thanks.
