Diskutility restore hangs
I have a MB that has just come back from AppleCare and needs to be restored. I have a SD backup on a sparsedisk image (external firewire drive), and am trying to use Disk Utility to restore the laptop. The laptop is booted off of a Leopard install CD. Each time I run the restore, Disk Utility hangs. It seems to hang at about the same point (about 1/8 on the progress bar). On my latest attempt this morning, its been hung at that point for over 2 hours - occasionally I would get a beach ball, but now the MB seems to be completely unresponsive.
Is this a problem that anyone else has seen with Disk Utility? Is there a fix? Assuming not, what is the best course of action for restoring from a non-bootable sparsedisk image? Thanks. Ward |

Unresponsive would imply that your FireWire drive is locking up. Have you tried a different cable, a USB port if it supports that, etc?
