Backup Failed - See Error Message

Hi,

I don't use Apple mail so I can't email you for support. Here is the error message I just got while doing a Smartupdate:

I have done many backups before and have never had a problem. Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix this. Thank you!

Sure. A "bad address" error usually means something's wrong with the source drive. I'd suggest that you boot from your Panther install CD and run Disk Utility from the Installer menu (the bold one that says "Installer" next to the Apple menu at the top of the screen).

Once there, use the First Aid tab to repair the drive, using the buttons on the right (NOT Repair Permissions on the left). Repeat until no problems are found, then try again.

Thanks for your help! I fixed the hard drive and was able to back it up with your suggestions. Thanks for the great service!
