Main Hard Drive not Appearing under "Copy From"

My main Internal Hardrive on my Powerbook won't show up on the "Copy From" (left) side, but will show up on the "Copy To" (right) side. I would like to copy the internal drive to an external (which shows up on both), but I'm having a little trouble without being able to select it! Any ideas?

Is it formatted as something other than HFS+, KobeBryant?

I took it to the genius at the local Apple store and it was confirmed that I have a hardware error on the hard drive.

That's rather strange... if you're booting from it I'd expect it to show up regardless. But, huh -- he must be seeing something I can't tell from your description.
