Copying programs to a drive with OSX installed

My question may be somewhat inane and my desire nonsensical but I would like to do a fresh install of OSX Leopard on a new drive and then add the programs from an existing boot drive to that drive without overwriting the freshly installed OSX. Is SD capable of accomplishing that task and if so, what settings are required?

Thank you in advance.

See the FAQ entry about restoring to a new computer, which is basically what you're doing. Note, though, that this doesn't really seem like a necessary thing to do.

Of course, it's up to you.

Thank you for your reply but not certain I understand why you feel that it isn't necessary? Do you feel that cloning the entire original drive to the new drive, thereby creating a bootable drive, would be sufficient?

Yes, that's generally what I'd do. Up to you, of course!
