Work around for initial, slow, full backup to NAS drive?
Hi
I am getting backup speeds of .9 MB/s over my LAN for the initial backup of my 220GB iMac drive to a Lace Ethernet mini disk. This leaves my machine pretty much out of action for a couple of days. As a work around would it be possible to do the first backup to a separate, local, Firewire drive overnight, then copy this image to the NAS drive. Then I would set up a Smart Update of the image on the NAS drive over the LAN on a regular basis? The Lacie Ethernet mini does have a USB 2 port for local connection, but Leopard doesn't set up the ethernet connection properly. This is a known issue. Thanks |
