Some time after using SD to make safety clones and a sandbox this message appeared after repairing permissions:
Repairing permissions for “Macintosh HD” Determining correct file permissions. We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./System/Library/Filesystems/cd9660.fs/cd9660.util. New permissions are 33261 The privileges have been verified or repaired on the selected volume Permissions repair complete What does this mean? is this something that SD has done? Should I be concerned? Thank you. |

It's completely normal and expected -- it's not something SD! has done, but rather a change the system made at some point, after a security update. Very common -- really, don't worry.

Interesting... but I never have done a security update... or anything else to the system per se as far as I know. So how did this happen?
thanks for your reply. RNB |

You've never used the Software Update program, or had it apply an update? I'd strongly recommend that you run it occasionally, to fix the various things Apple corrects over the months.
Regardless, this is a common entry that's only being logged by Repair Permissions. I can't explain exactly "how" it happened except to say it has nothing to do with SuperDuper! -- it's a very common permission, although I don't remember exactly what version of Panther it first appeared. It's important to recognize that we copy things exactly as they are on the drive. If the file has "incorrect" or "special" permissions on the original volume, we'll copy them exactly like that. But we never change the files on the source -- only on the destination... Really -- don't be concerned about this. It's totally normal.
