I missed your reply for reason, despite setting the option for an instant email notification. No I haven't tried those, but I'll look them up and see if they can help.
I had a similar experience after I first installed High Sierra, when my drive space decreased in big chunks every day until it reached just 30 gigs. I was worried it was going to completely choke with no space left, so I tried a clean install that reclaimed around 100 gigs of space, which was just astonishing. It has stayed at around the same 120 gigs of available space until very recently when it suddenly dropped dramatically for no obvious reason. Another clean install may be on the cards again.
