Sandbox / Quicken

This problem occurs only with a Sandbox startup (Shared Users and or Shared Users & Apps). Suspecting a Sandbox fault, I erased it & re-cloned. Same results.

Engaging the Quicken menu bar item 'On Line/Update Security Prices…' crashes with error msg: "The application Quicken 2007 quit unexpectedly." Same result upon Quicken attempting the update while opening when it's prefs are set to update security prices.

All other apps work fine. Startup using the original HD, Quicken works fine.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sounds like Quicken can't deal with either linked home folders or a linked application. Try replacing the Quicken symlink in /Applications with a copy of the Quicken application itself.

Sandbox / Quicken

Thanks for your super quick response. I copied the Quicken app to sandbox/Applications. Same result. Tried restarting - same result.

Additional clue? I used the menu function Online/Get Historical Prices… & that works OK.

Following is a copy of the Apple crash report from yesterday. Perhaps there is a clue there.

Not really, no. Sounds like Quicken isn't compatible with a Sandbox. There's not much we can do about that, unfortunately (although we haven't had other reports of this).

Sandbox / Quicken

That's reasonable. I will go back to using the regular HD. I've been maintaining three clones, created in sequence, one-a-day via Applescript. SuperDuper has saved my life more than twice over the years. Only thing that may hurt me is that some sys problems may not show up until after all three clones have been updated. I may revise procedure to clone once-a-week and rely on Time Machine for in between needs.

One last question. Can the Sandbox be used to restore only the non-alias items?

Thanks again for Superduper!

I'm not sure what you mean. You can copy back from a Sandbox, as discussed in the User's Guide, and if you do it right it'll leave the "linked" items alone and copy the rest. Please read the guide on this and be careful.
