Advice on Bootable Partition Size

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and have not quite found the answer I seek by browsing the forum, so I'll post the question here.

I have a brand new 1 TB G-Drive Q ext drive that I'm going to create 2 partitions on, one for a bootable backup and the other for general backup.

Now my question: What size should I make the bootable partition?

I've read to make it 10-15% larger than my current system file size. If that's the case, what's the procedure to determine the size of my current system files?

Also, any other advice or anecdotes related to my question/subject is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, bamarich...
