What to do after upgrading Mac OS?

I've currently got a bootable clone of my computer, which is using Mac OS 10.4.2. I'm about to upgrade to OS 10.4.11.

What should I do afterward: run a Smart Update or create a whole new bootable clone? THANKS!
-Bob

P.S. This topic must have come up before, but I wasn't successful in searching the archives or FAQs.
