Well, I got the 160GB LaCie hard drive in the end as finances didn't quite stretch to the 200GB version. It arrived today I plugged it in and my Powerbook recognised ot straoght away. I then partitioned it into three partitions with no porblems. Ran SuperDuper! and cloned my entire internal hard drive to my new backup partition. This took about 1hr 30 mins for 70GB of data via Firewire 800. I then restarted from the SuperDuper! clone on the external HD and everything seemed fine.... Although I have to say that when accessing the LaCie drive is's a bit noisy!... Min you I am used to the super quiet internal HD on my Powerbook.

So far so good..... Now time to register SuperDuper! so that I can make use of the SmartUpdate feature.

Cheers.
Al.
