a mild rant

I suppose the manual says something about this, but ...

A week after upgrading to 10.6 and 10.6.1, I connected my backup disk (with 10.5.8 on it) to smartupdate it.

It stopped, due to "disk full". I'm sure there is some logic here, even though there was less stuff to back up than was already on the disk.

So I went along with a full "erase and backup all files". It ran for some 5 hours, completing in my absence. When I checked back on my computer, Superduper had begun AGAIN, not with a smartupdate, even though the schedule, which wasn't set to backup (or somehow it must have decided to go through with a missed backup) was configured with a smartupdate.

So the newly completed backup was erased and it all started over.

Hmpfr!
