Monterey woes

I decided to update my 2017 MacBook Pro directly to Monterey from High Sierra. BIG MISTAKE! Lots of problems, decided to just restore the system disk from my backup in SuperDuper, which runs regularly and has always produced a bootable disk. The disk does boot, but when I try to start SuperDuper from that disk it crashes. There is a long crash dump which starts as follows. How do I get SD to run so I can get back onto solid ground? I have the whole dump if more info would be useful.
