I'm in the same exact situation. Isn't there some kind of workaround we can do?

I have my laptop set to go to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity (requiring password to wake), so if I leave my laptop on ym desk for a little while, my officemates can't easily use it without my permission. But this means that a scheduled wake-from-sleep (using Energy Saver system pref) won't succeed and thus a late-night scheduled SuperSuper backup won't ever get a chance to run.

One idea I had is to try using the screensaver for security rather than sleep, requiring a password to get out of screensaver mode but not to wake up...
Then I could have Energy Saver successfully wake the system at, say, 2am, and have SuperDuper scheduled to trigger a backup after the system wakes but before the screesaver triggers.

But I haven't tried this yet.
Anyone else have any other ideas/knowledge for solutions to this?
thanks!
