No Spotlight as far as I know

Would Spotlight index the newly-created disk image?

I did not see any Spotlight activity, but then I wasn't looking for any either.

Does SD take any special action when it starts backing up to...

Is this a reasonable back up speed?

I recently did a back up that took 11 hours -- much slower than I would have expected given my experience on Tiger.

Here is the info:
iMac 2.16 GHz Intel
260GB backed up
1.2M files

Fonts messed up after restore

I recently backed up my HD using SD, erased my HD, then copied back using SD. The goal was to defrag my drive, which it did.

Pretty much everything was Ok, with one exception -- many of my fonts...

Check if permissions are ignored on the volume

This happened to me.

My guess is that "Ignore permissions on this volume" is not checked. See Command-I for the volume in the finder.

Check that box. Then go into Disk Utility and repair...
