Access sparseimage files via FTP?
Hello again. Perhaps this could have been combined with my other post, but it's a different topic...
I use NAS as my backup destination, thus creating a sparseimage. My NAS and network are set up to allow FTP access. My question is 2-fold: 1) can I access and mount the sparseimage over the internet via FTP? Is that a terrible idea due to speed limitations? 2) if I can mount it, can I perform smart updates via FTP? Thanks! |
Sorry, no: we don't support FTP. (And yeah -- it'll be way too slow.)

I was really excited to install my NAS, and had high hopes for the FTP abilities. I can imagine a scenario where I'm at a friend's house, and I want to show them a picture, but don't have my computer, so I simply log-in to my remote storage and pull it up.
What options do I have, other than manually syncing all the files I might want to access? |
Well, you could use a VPN to connect into your Home network and then access either your NAS or your regular computer...
