Backup file size smaller than source files

Hi all,

Recently, after backing up my MBP internal drive I suddenly discovered that the backup files size is less than half (92GB vs. 200GB) of the source files.

I've checked the backup files manually - nothing seems to be missing. I could even start up from the backup disk and all seems to function perfectly.

Any ideas what might cause this weird phenomenon.

Thanks,
dov

Use Finder's "Go To Folder" menu to open the /Volumes folder and check in there for any folders, as opposed to links/aliases. If you see one there, that's likely where the data is.

Yes, I did find a folder "backup MBP'' 110 GB in size (!). Can I delete it?
Best,
dov

If it's a folder, yes you can.

I've deleted the folder - gained 110 GB - and all works just fine :-)
Thanks dnanian.
