Can I safely delete DevDocumentation.pkg ?

I've gone through these trouble shooting steps for the following I/O error:

| 09:45:08 PM | Error | ditto: /Applications/Installers/Developer Tools/Packages/DevDocumentation.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz: Input/output error

- ran disk utility on both hard drives - for the local, I used the startup disk
- tried to copy the file DevDocumentation.pkg, but it will not copy

My next thought would be to delete the DevDocumentation.pkg file, but I don't know what state I'll be able to get it back in?

Any ideas on next steps?

It's damaged now anyway, as I said in my emailed response. Delete it and empty your trash -- you can always download the developer documentation from Apple.
