Failing first backup

Hello,

I'm a former Carbon Copy Cloner user who recently upgraded to Tiger and now need a new backup solution. I'll happily pay for SuperDuper if it works for me, but so far I've been having trouble. I've tried twice now to clone my drive and both times it's failed. I'm trying to clone an internal 160GB drive to an external 160GB firewire drive. When I ran this latest attempt I had logged out and logged back in while holding down the shift key, so very little was running. Here's the output of the log. Please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong. Thanks in advance,

Russ

A couple of things here, Russell.

First, it's very strange that the volume -- the destination volume -- couldn't be unmounted & erased. That indicated that *something* unusual was accessing that drive, or had it busy: I'd strongly suggest being careful about what you're running while you're trying to do the backup.

Anyway, the other issue is covered elsewhere on the Forums, including a script that'll ignore the .hotfiles.btree. If you'll drop me a note via support email, I'll provide you with the script and a temporary key so you can actually verify that it works.

Sound OK?

Hi, Ben. I've replied to your email that asks the same question -- the solution is to just create a safety clone script that ignores the file...
