Fully bootable NAS backup
 

Dave,

At the present is there any way to make a fully bootable backup on a NAS?

If so, which one(s) can I buy?

Can multiple Macs use it (kinda the whole point for me)

If not, will this ever be possible in the forseeable future?

Directly bootable? No - the NAS is not available at boot time. But, as explained in the User's Guide, it can boot once restored.

It's probably easiest, these days, to make a little bootable thumbdrive with OS X installed on it, and use that to restore (with SuperDuper).
