Cloning SATA HDD to SSD

Hi!

Getting a lot of conflicting information on this. Is it possible to use SD, or any restore program, to clone a SATA II HDD to a Mercury Extreme SSD on a Mac Pro or is a clean install the only option, please?

I used SuperDuper! when I purchased my Crucial SSD in a MacBook back in the fall of 2009.

I used SuperDuper! to back up my MacBook onto an external.
Then I replaced the internal HD with the SSD.
Then I installed Mac OS X using the install CDROM.
Then I restored to the SSD from my SuperDuper! external backup.

Has been working great ever since.

Oh yes, I do weekly SuperDuper! backups of the internal SSD to an external drive.

Thank you.

Will try that installing Snow Leopard from install disk onto SSD in position one, and then backing up from current internal drive in position two on Mac Pro Mac Pro.

I thought cloning would interfere with the file format but as you has had no problems shall go that way. Also do weekly backups on each Friday and today is the day!

Further OWC Technical Support advise if the machine is stable with no corruption, cloning is no problem.
