Can't boot OS9 after restore
I just did a switch to a new hard drive and now I cannot boot OS9 anymore with my 800 MHz FP iMac. Yes, I could before! 8^)
I tried to erase the HD and install the drivers, but when I restored from disk utility - which is what I have to do since my clone won't boot - I still could not boot OS9. Any suggestions? |
Is the drive significantly larger? Perhaps that's why...

Yup
My original disk was 60GB, the FW backup is a 150 partitioned into two 75's and my new one is a 300GB.
Why would that matter? Would partitioning help? Also, I noticed that Disk Utility said that my external FW drive was an IBM filesystem, while the two partitions were MacOs. Could that be why I cannot boot from it? should I erase the whole thing and start over? |
Ah, yes, that's a big deal. You'll want to repartition, using "GUID" for an Intel Mac or "Apple Partition Map" for a Power PC Mac.
