Which backup strategy for 2 internal drives?

Hi,
I have 2 internal drives (same size) and want to use drive2 as a backup for drive1. All my music, pictures, etc are on drive1 and I absolutely want a systematic copy of those on drive2 as well as a complete image of my drive1.

What is the best technique to do that?

Full backup and smart update?
Sandbox while maintaining duplicate music, picture,... files?

In spite of having read the doc, I'm still a bit confused on what methodology I should use considering I only have 2 internal drives of the same size and drive1 being almost full.

Many thanks in advance for any help

The best technique is to partition the external into two volumes, one for each drive, and then smart update the appropriate source to the corresponding destination... use "Backup - all files" for each.

Hi dnanian,

Sorry my explanation might not have been very clear:
- I don't have an external drive, just 2 internal drives (A and B)
- My drive A is 80% full
- My drive B is empty (and ready to be used for my backup)

- I want to make sure that at all times I have a complete backup of my user files (music, photos, etc)

Can I use drive B as a "Sandbox" (?), so that if I apply some update to drive A or install a program that screws up my system, I just restore all the complete system and previously installed software from drive B to drive A ?

If so, what method should I use

Thanks

If you want to use a Sandbox (make sure you understand the concept), you can partition the other drive into two -- about 8-12GB or so for the Sandbox, and the rest (hopefully enough) for the backup.

You must back up the original drive as well as making the Sandbox, though -- a Sandbox is not a backup...
