One of my FireWire drives fails to boot...

I know that this is the wrong forum to post this question however I have come to rely on the citizens of the ShirtPocket World to provide their experience and knowledge.

I have one ( bad ) FireWire Drive that simply will not boot up OS 10 or 9 from my G4 PowerMac.

Any ideas/suggestions?

What brand/model of drive is it?

Not sure but I'll see if i can take it apart: I know the enclosure but don't know who's drive .

Just for greater certainty I am going to reformat the drive and install Tiger to see if it boots.

The crazy thing ( to me it's crazy ) is that Apple Disk Utility and the StartUp preference panel see's the FireWired drive having OS Tiger but the drive will not boot. What's that all about?

Some drive cases -- more specifically the bridge chipset used -- don't support startup. This sounds like one of those cases.

Didn't have enough time today: short by about 12 hours.:o

I had to prepare some CD's for a client immediately after a recording sessions: she wanted them for demo session she was attending Monday.
