First review now available at Apple-X.net

For those looking for an independent, 3rd party review of SuperDuper!'s full functionality, the first one has just been posted to Apple-X.net.

If I find about any other reviews, I'll do my best to post them here to the forums for the curious.

run from secondary drive?

I saw this in the review:
Quote:

The whole idea of SuperDuper is that instead of running off of your primary installed system in OS X, you make a “safety clone of that system on some other partition or drive and boot from that safety clone version. If you add system updates, drivers, or third party software which mucks up your system, you can immediately roll back to the untouched primary (backup) system. If on the other hand everything works out fine with the new additions, you can then clone that working system back onto the primary.
Is this the recommended operating procedure?

I am very happy to have found this software. I will spend the money and see how the more exotic and exciting features work.

Absolutely not: you should never clone the system back to the primary when you're running from a Safety Clone, at least in the current release. Since the Safety Clone references data on the original drive, cloning back will replace the original information with references to that information, resulting in data loss.

I actually go into some detail, and provide a large number of warnings, in the manual -- there's a good chapter on the Safety Clone and how to deal with installing application in there, so I recommend reading it before continuing.

Hope that helps!
