Using SD to Restore to a new internal HD
Hi Dave,
Like everyone else, I am anxiously awaiting your release of 2.5. Unlike some, I know longer bug you about it, simple due to the extreme prejudice some MOrice RONaldS have displayed as of late. In the meantime, I have a question regarding upgrading an MPB 17 (Leopard) with a new internal HD. Is any "prep" required or recommended on the newly installed drive prior to firing up SD! and starting the restore? i.e. should I install Leopard or perform Disk Utility operations? I have a Hitachi 200GB 7200 RPM drive in route, and if I timed it right your update and my new drive should arrive within a day or two of each other. Your thoughts or suggestions are most welcome, as always. PS: Since my so-called predication about a MacWorld release date was, ahem, rather lame, I suppose I owe you something in return. So what do you think? Lunch at Legal Seafood, or a few slugs of 18 year old MaCallan? Both? One thing I do not miss about Boston is the fact that the skies turn grey around Nov 15 and stay that way until April or May, so I thought you might need a lift at this point. |
You'd only need to use Disk utility to properly partition the drive (as "GUID") and format it (as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)").
A few slugs of Macallan would certainly be nice right around now, but alas it's tea for me to stay awake. |
