Dear SuperDuper!,
I am new to your software and your website and hope you can clarify how to proceed with updating my hardrive. I have a Dual 1ghz and my bootdrive is partitioned into four drives. I want to upgrade the bootdrive, but I don't want to have the same partitioning in the new drive. If I clone my old drive on a firewire drive and then replace my system on the new drive, do I have to maintain the same partitions? Or can I clone and then restore on the newer drive that will have a lot more space. Thanks in advance for your guidance.

The size of the partitions doesn't matter, but combining drives isn't necessary an easy thing. When you back up with SD, we don't copy the partitions -- we copy the files in the partitions, to a volume whose size can be anything at all (as long as it fits the files, of course).

So, you can do the copy and then manually copy things together, which -- since I assume the files on the other partitions can be Finder-copied -- is probably the best way...

I'd definitely suggest doing the combination on the backup, though. That way you can check it out before committing to it.
